About WhiteNoiseGenerator.app

WhiteNoiseGenerator.app is a free collection of noise and nature sounds for sleep, focus and quiet: seven noise colors, eight ambient sounds, binaural beats and a tinnitus comfort tool, all generated live in your browser. It is an independent site and is not affiliated with any app, device maker or other noise website.

Why we built it

We wanted a sleep sound that simply works: opens instantly, plays forever without a loop you start to notice at 2 a.m., lets you shape the sound to your ears, and does not ask for an account or an app install. Most noise sites play short recordings on repeat. We generate every sample as it plays instead, so nothing ever repeats and nothing has to download once the page has loaded. The site launched in October 2026.

How the sounds are made

White, pink and brown noise come from standard signal-processing methods: random numbers, the Kellet pink noise filter and a leaky random walk. Rain, waves, wind, fire and streams are synthesized from the same building blocks with random drops, gusts and crackles. Every sound is level-matched so switching between them does not cause a jump in volume. The details, including how downloads loop seamlessly, are in how our noise generator works.

How we write our pages and guides

Everything on the site is written by us. When a page mentions research, it names the authors, journal and year so you can look the work up yourself, and we try hard to say what a study actually showed rather than what headlines claimed. For example, the pink noise studies on deep sleep used EEG-timed bursts, not continuous noise, and we say so. Health topics such as tinnitus, ADHD and baby sleep include clear advice on when to see a professional. Each guide shows when it was last updated.

Your privacy

Sounds are generated on your device and your settings are saved only in your browser. We never access your microphone and there are no accounts. See our privacy policy for details.

How the site is funded

The sounds, timer and downloads are free and will stay free. The site is supported by advertising, which pays for hosting and development. Ads never play audio or interrupt the sound.
